Guernsey engineering consultancy MAL, which is part of the T & G Group, has appointed senior design engineer Patricia Newell Maher as a director of the company.
She will support T & G Group chairman Ian Bashforth, who recently took on the additional role of managing director of MAL, and will be responsible for overseeing the continued expansion of the Guernsey office.
An experienced Chartered Engineer, Mrs Newell Maher holds a degree in structural engineering from Trinity College, Dublin and spent the early part of her career in the Cork office of Fehily Timoney & Company, one of the leading Irish-owned independent consultants, where she was project engineer and manager on a number of medium to large scale projects.
Prior to her move to Guernsey, she had been running NME Consultants, a small engineering consultancy based in Galway.
Mrs Newell Maher joined MAL as a senior engineer in September 2010 following the merger with Jersey engineering consultancy T & G Limited and helped manage the company’s recent move to new premises at Caslon Court in Pitronnerie Road, St Peter Port.
MAL managing director Ian Bashforth said her appointment to the board reflected the key contribution Mrs Newell Maher had made to MAL during the period of change following the recent merger and office move.
“Trish has proven a great asset during her short time with us and has ably demonstrated not only a high level of technical knowledge and organisational expertise but also the eye for detail and friendly, yet professional, approach that we and our clients value so highly,” he said.
